Data Analysis for Field orienteering Monitoring by COMPASS System

Affected by the topographic and weather conditions, and the athletes’ physical, skill and psychological qualities, it’s rather difficult to guarantee the athletes’ safety during the orienteering training and competition process. In this paper, a orienteering training monitoring and data analysis system based on COMPASS positioning and communication was proposed, and two data series collected by the system were analyzed. The data showed that: 1) According to comprehensive punch efficiency and performance efficiency, athletes No.9, No.13 obtained the best performance efficiency; 2) the safety warning ability and higher efficiency of orienteering training can be improved using the monitoring system based on COMPASS positioning and communication.
