Reduction of Leakage Current in a Single Phase Transformerless Grid Connected PV System

This paper presents a single stage transformer-less inverter system with a new control system that reduces the leakage current, increases the overall efficiency, decreases the power loss and after all decreases the cost. This topology is based on the mid-point clamping circuit comprises of one semiconductor switch and a full bridge diode that braced the common mode voltage from zero to dc midpoint during the freewheeling time frame. Subsequently, the common mode voltage becomes standstill and therefore the leakage current and overall THD of the grid current decreases. The working rules of the proposed topology are briefly discussed. Finally, the conceptual examination is validated through the MATLAB/Simulink platform.
