Electrophoretic Grown TiO2-Based Interdigitated Microsupercapacitor: Device Fabrication and Characterization for Flexible Electronics

The rapid growth of flexible electronic devices greatly stimulates the demand for planer and microscale energy storage devices. Flexible and planer microsupercapacitors (MSCs) with their interdigitated electrode architecture serve as a promising platform for energy and power sources for flexible microelectronics. This study reports the fabrication of in-plane interdigitated structure-based MSC device utilizing TiO
₂
nanofibers (NFs) as an active material via binder-free, cost-effective, and environmental-friendly electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technique. The fabricated MSC device delivers an excellent areal capacitance (
${C} _{A}$
) of 9.4 mF/cm
²
at 10 mV/s scan rate. Furthermore, the flexible MSC device shows 80% capacitance retention after 10 000 successive GCD cycles and 73% retention after 2000 bending cycles. Moreover, the maximum areal energy density and areal power density obtained for the device are
