Design of a Gearbox Based on Genetic Algorithm

So far, many CVT and self-made two speed transmission arrangements have emerged in the Baja SAE China. However, the existence of CVT and other nonlinear variables makes it impossible to fully apply the traditional formula to calculate the transmission ratio when designing the transmission, which makes many racing cars unable to match the transmission with CVT. It is often necessary to sacrifice certain speed regulation characteristics of CVT to achieve the most basic power requirements of racing cars. In this paper, firstly, through the establishment of the car power model, a genetic algorithm process is designed, and the fitness function is calculated, so that the algorithm can select the most appropriate transmission ratio of high gear and low gear, so that the car can drive the fastest on a fixed track. The algorithm reduces the amount of calculation and avoids the occurrence of local optimal solution. Then, the basic parameters of the gear are determined according to the transmission ratio. Next, the gear is dimensioned and its bending strength and contact strength are checked. After that, CATIA is used to model the inside of the gear box, including gear mechanism, gear shifting mechanism and shaft parts. After the modeling is completed, it is assembled in CATIA. ANSYS is used to conduct mechanical simulation on the main parts. Finally, a gear box based on genetic algorithm is designed.
