Analysis and Comparison on Power Characteristics of Fixed-speed and Variable-speed Pumped Storage Unit

Power characteristics are important for evaluating the operation performance of pumped storage units, and the power characteristics of fixed-speed pumped storage unit and variable-speed pumped storage unit are different. Based on the electrical characteristics and hydraulic characteristics of the two types of pumped storage units, their operating ranges and limitations are analyzed and calculated. The power capability diagram plotting method is proposed and implemented by Mathematica software. The power characteristics of the two types of pumped storage units are compared.
