FPGA Implementation of High Speed Anti-notch Lattice filter for Exon Region Identification in Eukaryotic Genes

The extended abstract is for a Research Demo Session based on our previous article [1]. There is a requirement of high-speed processing of DNA data for finding the protein coding regions in eukaryotic genes. Periodic-3 property is found in protein-coding regions of eukaryotic genes. Anti-notch IIR lattice filter is used for this purpose. FPGA hardware implementation of anti-notch IIR lattice filter is helpful for reducing the time frame for analysing the DNA sequences of eukaryotic genes for proteins formation, which is useful for designing the individual centric drugs from clinical reports. In this paper FPGA implementation (implemented on Nexys-4 DDR Artix-7 series FPGA) and its prototyping of anti-notch IIR lattice filter is done for exon region identification in eukaryotic genes. It is found that FPGA implemented lattice ANF filter is 27 to 31 times faster as compared to its MATLAB implementation with similar functionality.
