Dv/Dt Control Through the Gate of a Field-Effect Transistor in Forward-Mode Converters

An important condition for increasing the efficiency of pulse converters is the reduction of active power losses on switch transistors during transients. In addition to reducing the duration of the on and off times, it is necessary to reduce the amplitude values of the currents and voltages of the switch transistor. This paper presents a study of the transients in the control of a forward pulsed voltage stabilizer. A comparative analysis was made between control of the switch transistor with a conventional and with an active driver with feedback on the derivative of drain voltage. The electromagnetic compatibility of the pulse converter is improved by reducing the maximum values of currents and voltages as well as the duration of the transients.
