Electricity supply for the next half century

Probable electricity requirements of South Africa in the next half century are established as well as the economically optimum mix of conventional generating plant needed to meet these requirements. The effects of limited resources of fuel, water, capital and manpower are discussed and consideration is given to environmental aspects and possible alternative sources of energy for electricity generation.
