Operation of the power system of the electricity supply commission of South Africa

The recent development of ESCOM into its present structure is briefly sketched and the functions of the Operations Department and its divisions are described. Some aspects of operation and control of the ESCOM power system as it is at present are discussed and plans for the future system control and load dispatch system are outlined.
