Conceptual Model of a Remote Laboratory for Investigation of DC Motors

In this study is presented a conceptual model of a remote lab for investigation of DC electrical machines. The model is explained on different levels. Initially, the architecture of the system is presented and its use cases are summarized. The study identifies the main actors that work with the virtual lab (the student and the teacher) and describes their roles. Next is explained the structure of the system, including its main modules, their functions and the interaction between them. On a different scale, the interaction between the user, the server and the remote equipment is presented using an activity diagram. The study continues with defining the main regimes of operation of the remote lab system and the quantities that should be either monitored with sensors, measured or approximated. The developed conceptual model will be the base for implementing a remote lab for investigation of DC electrical machines.
