Designing mobile system for authentication of persons accessing secure areas

This paper is about the design of a mobile system that should help the protective shifts of military facilities. The system will facilitate the acquisition and evaluation of information relevant to the authorization of persons and vehicles entering the military facility. The main benefit of the system will be streamlining and thus speeding up the work of protective shifts of military facilities. The main part of the system described in this paper is a mobile device using computer vision methods and a database system to identify people or vehicles. The extraction of key data will be performed using the mentioned methods of computer vision from ID and passports of entering person and from the license plate in case of vehicles. The obtained data will then be further evaluated both locally and on a remote server, which contains a database of people and vehicles who are authorized to enter the area. The results will then be transmitted to the device operator in real-time. The paper is divided into several parts. The first part is devoted to a general acquaintance with the issue of securing entrances to military areas. It also explains the general architecture of the proposed system and its interconnection with existing systems. The next phase is centered around the algorithm itself and preliminary results. In the end, the current state of the project is summarized, the individual steps and decisions are evaluated, and several recommendations for similar projects are derived from them.
