The Effect of Antenna Height on the Performance of the Okumura/Hata Model Under Different Environments Propagation

Radio propagation is important for evolving wireless communication systems, it is very necessary to study and define the characteristics of the radio propagation in different environments in order to reach the optimum condition. The Okumura/Hata model is one of the most considerably appropriate path loss (PL) models that can predict propagation PL in different environment areas such as urban, suburban, and open area. In this paper, we will mainly investigate the factors influencing of performance Okumura/Hata propagation PL model. The main objective of this work is to enable researchers entering this field become more familiar with the problems and active elements of this model to reach the best design. Through this study, we categorize the factors that effect of this model into antenna height and frequency. These parameters that encouragement the Okumura/Hata model performance have been analyzed and simulated by using MATLAB software. It is detected that the antenna height at the transmitter have a great effect on the propagation PL performance. But, the antenna height at the receiver can have a small effect on propagation PL performance. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that frequencies also affect greatly on the propagation PL of various environments propagation. This study tries to find to the impact of each of these elements on the transmitter and receiver through Okumura/Hata model to assistances the researcher and reader of development or set some new ideas.
