Designing of Serial Asynchronous to Analog Resolver Format Converter

This article presents the design of an interface solution for two systems where the input system gives angular information in serial asynchronous format while the end system requires it in Analog Resolver format. The angular information examined here was the ship's Roll and Pitch as obtained from the ship's RLG (Ring Laser Gyro) equipment. The OrCAD cadence proprietary software tool package was used to create an embedded board. The proposed model is developed by using microcontroller 8051, Digital to Resolver converter module and some other required components, and further it was tested by using simulated Roll Pitch angular information, which is generated with the help of COM Port Toolkit and the output of this interface solution was measured on API (Angle Position Indicator) and Oscilloscope.
