An autonomous single-phase induction generator using pwm inverter as static var source

This paper presents a split-phase induction generator employing a sinusoidal pulse width modulation (PWM) inverter connected across the auxiliary winding as a static var source. This scheme has the advantage of using the magnitude modulation and the phase angle control of the inverter to regulate and keep the output voltage and frequency constant. The scheme is analyzed using system equations derived from an equivalent circuit based on d-q-o transformation in stationary reference frame. The equations are expressed in terms of flux linkages, and the magnetic saturation of the magnetizing path is modeled by expressing the reciprocal of the instantaneous magnetizing inductance as a function of saturated air gap (magnetizing) flux linkages. The final results are compared with those measured on a practical machine.
