A Case study of Photovoltaic array integrated Unified Power Quality Conditioner for societal issues

The increased use of devices having non linearity and time varying nature at the utilisation side has increased harmonic distortion at the utilisation level. Paper industries are one of the industries that are affected due to harmonic distortion. In this paper a case study of Photovoltaic array integration with Unified Power Quality Conditioner (PV-UPQC) on societal issue mainly paper industry is taken. In this model SRF theory-based control algorithm is used. Hysteresis PWM (HPWM) technique is used to generate triggering pulses for VSI. Maximum power tracking is used for extracting solar power. In this paper harmonic analysis of load with non-linearity without PV-UPQC and with PV-UPQC has been analysed. The proposed model can help in reduction of harmonics and compensation of reactive power. This proposed model was created in MATLAB. The simulation results show satisfactory operation of the proposed system.
