Control of BLDC Motor Driven Standalone Blower System Using Fuzzy Logic Controller

This paper deals with the control of BLDC motor driven standalone blower system using fuzzy logic controller (FLC). This system involves a photovoltaic (PV) array, modified buck-boost converter, Brushless DC (BLDC) motor and its drive with control systems. Here PV array is used to power the system with FLC based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique to extract maximum power and blower is driven with BLDC motor with FLC based speed control for proper airflow control. Fuzzy logic control based MPPT method has better performance compared to perturb and observe (P&O) method and incremental conductance (INC) method. BLDC motor is used because of its better efficiency and performance compared to other motors. The speed control of the motor is done by adjusting PWM signal to inverter by combining signal generated from electronic commutation and the control signal generated by fuzzy logic controller for the speed control. This work involves the design and simulation of the standalone blower system.
