Electrical equipment for use in explosive atmospheres

This paper is not intended to contain any new information, Since flameproofing is relatively unknown in South Africa, this paper is intended to cover, as a, survey, the underlying thoughts and principles embodied in such equipment. An attempt has been made to define the problem of using electricity in hazardous locations and to briefly indicate the three possible solutions as well as the circumstances under which those solutions would be moat suitable.
