An introduction to a discussion on lead accumulators

On reading through the list of papers read before this Institute since 1920, I cannot trace a single paper dealing exclusively with the subject of Electric Accumulators. A few references were made to accumulators in a paper read by Mr. Cyril T. Cocks in 1922, entitled “Some Train Lighting Systems,” and in a paper by Mr. Hotting, entitled “Electric Light and Power Supply Schemes for Moderate-size Towns in South Africa,” read before this Institute in 1926. Mr. Cocks, inter alia, says “the subject of accumulators is a large one and cannot adequately be treated in the comparative few lines that are allotted to it in this paper”.
