Notes on the design of oil switches

I shall have the honour to demonstrate to you to-night a few of the more important features having hearing on the design of modern oil switches in general, and on the Brown-Boveri oil switch in particular. Before doing so, however, I would remark that this paper was compiled during my recent return voyage from Europe, and before I had an opportunity of becoming acquainted with the contents of Dr. Hahn's paper and the discussion thereof. In order to avoid too many repetitions, I have had to curtail the present notes considerably. Some repetitions, however, are unavoidable, but as the conclusions in some respects deviate from the views previously expressed, I trust my paper may prove of interest.
