Waveform Shaping For Wireless Information and Energy Provision with Carrier Frequency Offset

Wireless information and energy provision (WIEP) can effectively extend the life-time of miniature-size electronic device by providing controllable, on-demand wireless energy supply. We introduce a novel transmitter architecture by superimposing multi-sinusoidal wireless energy provision (WEP) signals and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based wireless information provision (WIP) signals. The amplitudes of all these multicarrier-based WIP and WEP signals as well as the power splitter of the receiver are jointly optimised for maximising the direct-current (DC) in the presence of carrier frequency offset(CFO), while satisfying the information rate constraint of the WIP. After adopting some reasonable relaxations, the original non-convex problem is converted to a reversed geometric programming problem which can be effectively solved with a low complexity. Numerical results demonstrate our WIEP waveform outperforms the conventional OFDM waveform in terms of WEP performance. Our design also outperforms the existing counterpart with the presence of the CFO.
