The measurement of atmospheric radio noise in South Africa in the low-frequency band

This paper is designed to present the results of 100-kc/sec atmospheric noise measurements made by Telecommunications Research Laboratory of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research. A brief description of the various types of noise encountered by receiving equipment is given and the problems associated with atmospheric-noise recording are discussed. The most commonly used recording method is described.
