Fully Integrated 65W High Density USB-PD Charger

The paper presents a wide input range 65W high density PPS USB-PD charger. The paper describes the topology used showing the waveforms, methods to control spikes and parasitic ringing through appropriate control and device sizing, and experimental data from the prototype. The prototype uses an highly integrated active clamp flyback controller including protocol management, and a System-in-Package (SiP) that embeds a half-bridge of GaN HEMTs along with the half-bridge driver. It reaches a compact 5.2x3.2x1.8 cm size.
