TM Mode Circular Waveguide Array Antennas for 1800MHz RF Energy Harvesting

This paper presents the design and realization of transverse magnetic (TM) mode circular waveguide array antennas for radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting. The proposed array antennas are constructed by 2 × 2 circular waveguides in asymmetric configuration and fed through microstrip lines. To properly work at the frequency of 1800MHz available for harvesting the Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) energy, each circular waveguide antenna has the height of 40mm and the radius of 68mm. The characterization result shows that the prototype of realized array antennas which takes the dimension of 350mm×350mm achieved S11 value of -30.32dB at the frequency of 1840MHz suitable for the desired application.
