Improving Performance of Mantle Cloak for Electrically Large PEC Cylinders

Based on the scattering cancellation technique, a novel approach is proposed to improve the performance of mantle cloak for electrically large cylinders. The approach consists of tilting the cylinder with respect to the incident plane wave and then carefully designing the mantle cloak corresponding to those tilted conditions. A procedure is devised to determine the optimum angle of tilt that should be provided to the cylinder in order to maximize the improvement in cloaking performance. The procedure is extended to electrically large cylinders of radius 0.25λo and 0.85λo. Additionally, the proposed mantle cloak is realized using periodic grid of metallic patches and simulations in Ansys HFSS are performed to verify the design.
