Influence of Injection Pressure and Pressure Oscillation and on the Rate of Fuel Outflow from the Sprayer of an Electrohydraulic Diesel Nozzle

In this study, a diesel fuel system calculation model was developed in Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University (MADI), Russian Federation to determine the injection characteristic of common rail fuel systems with ultra-high fuel injection pressure. Applying the calculation model for two different injectors, the results show that the injection pressure has a great influence on inclination angle of the leading edge of injection characteristics. At the same time, using a balanced control valve (for injector No. 2) increases the refueling rate at the initial injection stage but reduces the ability to control the leading edge of the injection characteristic. In addition, the results also show the effect of the wave phenomena on the spray characteristics. The wave phenomena depend on the pressure in the rail pipe. The increase in the mass of injector moving parts and the use of the balanced control valve enhances the influence of wave phenomena.
