“An introduction to the discussion on domestic electricity”

In introducing the theme “Domestic Electricity” I am faced with the fact that the subject is one of which every member of the audience has, in one way or another, a good knowledge. In using the term “Domestic Electricity” I really mean electricity in the home. It is my intention to keep to generalities, to give a résumé of the progress made in the use of electricity in the home over, say, the past ten years and not to enter into a highly controversial subject, such as the electricity tariff or the value of the domestic load to an electricity undertaking. These are subjects which have been discussed at length in all Municipal Electrical Engineers' Conventions.
