Discussion on the design, construction and applications of electronic digital computers

Dr O. Brune: I must first thank you for your courtesy in asking me to join in this discussion. I feel that we should all like to thank you for inviting the authors to present this very timely and very interesting paper at this meeting. Not only is this a subject of interest to electrical engineers whose technique is so largely used in building these machines, but to all engineers to whom it offers a means of solving problems which would be too unwieldy to tackle without their aid. It is a subject of interest also to the general public which I hope is represented here. I understand that the largest of giant electronic brains are at present to be found in science fiction; it is well that we occasionally make contact with solid fact.
