Acoustic and sound insulation practice in the South African broadcasting corporation

When broadcasting commenced in this country in 1924, broadcasting studios were housed in ordinary office buildings and operated from these for 10 years. Very little attempt was made to exclude noise from the studios with the result that, not infrequently, extraneous noises were broadcast. Such occurrences were sometimes embarrassing but more often than not highly amusing.
