Some notes on mines and mine sweeping

The notes first deal in general terms with the principles of operation of contact, antenna, controlled and magnetic types of moored mines. German ground mines used in the recent war are then described, followed by brief particulars of some of the many types of sweeps developed to deal with the magnetically operated ground mine. The “L” magnetic sweep is then described in more detail, and the notes conclude with descriptions of the two types of sweep adopted to deal with the acoustic type of ground mine.
