An investigation of methods of measuring the resistance of earth connections

During the past few years, a number of papers have been delivered by Students before this Institution on the subject of earth resistance and the earthing of systems. Their main object has been the investigation of phenomena and problems connected with the earthing of systems, and much valuable data has been collected. The subject has by no means been exhausted, however, and the authors of this paper decided to compare the methods employed for making earthing resistance measurements, It was felt that information on this aspect of the subject might prove of some practical value. The object of this paper, therefore, is to correlate various methods of measuring earthing resistances, and to investigate their relative accuracy.
