Synthesis of Rotor Field-Orientation Control for Induction Traction Motor

This paper is concerned with the synthesis of rotor field-orientation control for an induction motor intended for the electric traction of an autonomous locomotive powered by a battery. The operating equations in the system with rotor field-orientation and the associated control scheme are presented and discussed. After presenting the structural scheme and the operational equations, the design of controllers is addressed. The performance of the control system during the start-up by prescribing a ramp speed and step rotor flux, for two speeds is presented and analyzed. The results validate the correct synthesis of the control system and control algorithm.
