Fault-Tolerant Multiphase Electric Generator Integrated in the Power Plant of an Aircraft

In this paper, a fault simulation of a six-phase fault-tolerant generator has been carried out. The simulation results show that an increase in the number of faulty phases leads to an increase in the ripple of the rectified current and voltage on the load. In order to reduce ripple, it is necessary to provide a smoothing filter at the output of the rectifier. In the short-circuit mode, current surges occur, which exceed the nominal currents by 4-5 times. These currents pose a danger to the insulation integrity of the machine. During the operation of the generator with one fault (short-circuit or phase loss), full operability remains, the decrease in output parameters by not more than 7.4% is insignificant. When working with faults of two phases simultaneously, the drop in output parameters reaches 17%.
