Security Threats and Service Degradation Detection in LoRaWAN Networks

LoRaWAN is a promising LPWAN technology used for implementing the Internet of Things (IoT). LoRaWAN in its standard defines a number of mechanisms that are aimed at preventing network impact and ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of information. But despite this many network management functions remain undefined in its protocol stack, as well as many functions of protection against accidental or deliberate impacts. We have proposed a Nemo-IoT monitoring software, which is targeted at IoT service providers to enforce Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance, detect service degradation and some types of malicious intrusion. We consider random and deliberate attacks on the network as a type of intrusion, we use well-known methods of clustering the network, detecting anomalies in its behavior, which allows us to classify the type of intrusion. The software package is built on the Aggregate cyber-physical platform. The developed system has passed experimental tests on a real network segment.
