Electronically Controllable Precision Rectifiers Based on Voltage Differencing Gain Amplifier

This article presents voltage differencing gain amplifier (VDGA)-based half wave and full wave precision rectifiers. Its circuit structures comprise only 1 VDGA for half wave rectifier and 2 VDGAs for full wave rectifier, without any passive element and diode. The output signals offer both in current and in voltage. The output amplitudes of the proposed rectifiers can be electronically controlled by corresponding bias currents of the VDGA. The verification of the proposed circuits is depicted by PSpice simulation program with the model parameter of 0.25μm CMOS process. The obtained results confirm the theoretical expectation. By-product of the proposed rectifiers is that the output voltage is free from temperature deviation. The total power consumptions are approximately 0.18mW for half wave and 0.37mW for full wave configuration.
