Spatial Correlation in Propagation Channel Prediction Model

A propagation model in wireless channels, particularly in vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications, is one of the considered methods for determining radio frequency (RF) signal behaviours. Characterizing the channel is mostly done by exploring channel transfer function (CTF) of an impulse response. Transmission coefficients between transmitters and receivers are then derived. This paper investigates the possibility that the coefficients form a distinguished pattern. We propose spatial correlation to measure the similarity between sets of the route position in a defined scenario. The result shows that the spatial correlation between them is low. Interestingly, a slight change of vehicle position on the route and a prediction margin to the transmission coefficients influence the spatial correlation values, but still at a moderate level.
