Separate Measuring the Liquid and Gas Delivery of Oil Wells with a Single Flowmeter

Measuring the oil well delivery is a complicated task due to the uncertainty of the borehole fluid composition consisting of at least two phases - liquid and gas, and the inconstancy of temperature and pressure conditions at the wellhead. Effective regulatory documents require keeping delivery records for each well and separately for three components - oil, water, and gas. The delivery of the vast majority of wells is determined by group metering stations. A prerequisite for their operation is the preliminary separation of the borehole fluid with subsequent separate measuring the liquid and gas flow rates and calculating the oil delivery using the moisture meter readings. The paper proposes to use a single vortex flowmeter calibrated for both liquid and gas, through which a single-phase flow of either liquid or gas passes alternately, in mobile delivery metering stations. The measuring lines are switched automatically. A densitometer is used to improve the reliability of identifying the measured medium in each measurement cycle, which also allows determining the mass flow rate of each phase, where appropriate.
