Challenges and Opportunities for Terrestrial Network Operators in the Air-Space-Ground Integrated Network

This paper analyzes the network characteristics and industrial development of space-based and air-based networks in detail Typically, satellite and High-Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) communication system enjoy the advantage of wide transmission coverage, flexible deployment without limit by the geographical environment, small delay jitter, and high reliability. According to the capabilities of different networks, the author proposes the applications of the Air-Space-Ground integrated network in four scenarios, which include emergency support communication, three-dimensional mobile communication, public services in remote areas, and communication services in large space-time scales. Finally, we provide some insights into the challenges and opportunities of terrestrial network operators in the future development process of the Air-Space-Ground integrated network.
