Optimal Design of LVAC Distribution System Topology for a Rural Village

This paper compares two algorithms to design distribution system topologies in a rural village as a greenfield planning perspective considering the balanced load and minimum power loss. In the first step, the Repeated ABC phase sequence (RABC) concept is developed to find out load balancing from a distribution transformer to all consumers. Then, the combinatorial phase swapping (CPS) concept is implemented to search for minimum power loss. Next, the impact of load profile uncertainty on different topologies is studied. The distribution system topologies are visualized automatically for different connected phases of the system. To perform a proposed method, the 187 bus distribution test system in the rural village, Cambodia is selected to be a case study. Then, a comparative design of two different methods enables to conclude that the CPS leads more optimal solutions.
