Service Restoration in Distribution System Using Modified Sequential Opening Branches

The distribution network restoration aims to determine the optimal radial topology for healing the un-supplied-loads as much as possible with the minimum number of switching operations. This paper brings an adaptive service restoration called modified sequential opening branches (MSOB). The MSOB uses the loop configuration of the system to search for the best tie-switch or sectionalize switch to perform. The loop for the switch which is already operated must be excluded to reduce searching space for increasing the restoration speed in the next step. The MSOB process is completed when the radial structure is given. This algorithm is tested with the 33-bus system with the result comparison to existing algorithms and the 69-bus system to observe the efficiency of the MSOB algorithm. The influence of distributed generation integration for service restoration is also discussed in the paper.
