Gender-wise Analysis of Diseases and Risk Factors in Saudi Population

A healthy environment requires identification, management, and treatment of factors that affect a person's health. Saudi Arabia, one of the emerging economies of the world, faces acute challenge in the health sector and the recent health reforms are an important part of high-level decision-making and budgetary decision. Diabetes, hypertension, and obesity are three diseases that have impacted not only the lives of individuals but also led to extra budget spending on the health care sector. The diseases can be managed by controlling the health risk factors. Several risk factors have been identified to play a significant role in a person's life and if not managed properly, these factors can lead to severe illness, disability, or even death. In this study, we use data from local Saudi hospitals to analyze the occurrence of diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. As a result of our descriptive analysis of the data, we identify the interrelationships between the diseases and the risk factor of inactive lifestyle and provide some recommendations on how to change personal behavior and bring changes in one's surroundings to promote better health.
