The effects of water content of lubricating oil on wear of friction pair composed of aluminum alloy disk and gray cast iron pin

In order to study wear characteristics of the friction pair composed of aluminum alloy disk and gray cast pin under different water content of lubricating oil, the test pieces of friction pair were designed and processed, and the experimental results were carried out on the reciprocating wear test rig. The percentage of water content of lubricating oil is 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.5% and 0.8% respectively. A volume measurement method was used to characterize the total wear of aluminum parts. The study shows that when the test load is relatively small at 50N, the wear of the friction pair is small, and when the water content ratio of lubricating oil is above 0.1%, the change of wear amount is also small. With the increase of load, the wear amount of friction pair increases. When the load is at 100 N and 150 N, the wear amount increases with the increase of water content.
