A Two-stage Electric Energy Scheduling Strategy for Pelagic Island Microgrid Clusters

Electric vessels (EVs) can achieve interisland energy transmission among pelagic island microgrid clusters (PIMGCs) by charging or discharging. However, the renewable generation uncertainties may impact the operational economy of PIMGGs integrating EVs. To address the problem, this paper proposes a two-stage electric energy scheduling strategy. First, by analyzing the power regulation and sailing characteristics of an EV, an interisland spatial-temporal energy transmission model is established. Additionally, a two-stage electric energy scheduling model integrating the network constraints is proposed, where the day-ahead stage optimizes the EV travel trajectory decisions, and the intra-day stage manages the unit and EV power using the model prediction control (MPC) method. On this basis, this optimization model is converted into a classic mixed-integer second-order cone programming (MI-SOCP) problem, and efficiently solved by commercial solver. Simulation studies on pelagic islands in South China Sea indicate that the proposed scheduling strategy is effective and beneficial for PIMGCs.
