A Scrutinized study on DoS attacks in Wireless Sensor Networks and need of SDN in Mitigating DoS attacks

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) which are combined with the internet had become a hopeful network for solving many real-world problems. The advent of new-fangled technologies in the world of integrated large scale computer networks, the WSN networks consist of lightweight, hardware-limited sensor with computing capabilities and limited power resources, which provides many advantages but also there exist serious security issues that become a big issue in the cyber world. The DoS attacks had been out broken in these large-scale networks, which leads to adverse effects such as tone down the WSN nodes and their network features, devour resources, destruct or change the infrastructure settings, pilfering the data, losing of data and also physically destroy the network components. The architecture of wireless networks is unstable and therefore their orientations transmission is what makes them vulnerable. The Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a captivating networking technology. The SDN handles the assorted issues with various security policies and controls the key network components from a centralized controller. It also provides an opportunity for implementing and updating of network and security policies at runtime, making it a prime choice for massive and dynamic network systems. This paper discusses about the various DoS attacks in WSN and an overview of how the SDN features helps to mitigate the DoS Attacks.
