A Design of 4.5W Closed Loop Boost Converter with 45V, 100mA Output for Low Power Applications

There is a continuous demand for a low power switched mode power supply as technology progresses. As for step up voltage requirements with less space occupancy, boost converter can satisfy these specifications. This paper presents a closed loop boost converter which can be useful for applications such as LED driver, DC motors, and for other portable purposes needing step up voltage using LTSpice. Since this is closed loop circuit, stability can be monitored and ensured. The particular design in this study has 20V to 45V step up voltage with 100mA output current rating. In this paper, the DC-DC switching mode topology requires a 20V supply from either a DC power supply or battery. The closed loop operation of the boost converter is facilitated by the UC3842 current mode controller. As for the output and with regulation provided, the input voltage range varies from 16V to 30V and can still provide an acceptable output voltage of 45V.
