Design and Implementation of Indian Coin Identification System using ANN Approach

Identification, validation, sorting and counting of the coin, being legal tender is always a challenging task. The condition becomes critical when the coins are degraded due to its long use or in case if the coins to be identified exists in large number. In this paper, we proposed effective technique for identification of valid Indian coins using Artificial Neural Network approach. To bring in to reality, the said approach is implemented using natural evolution characteristic of the genetic algorithm. For the validation, different filters and edge detection algorithms are used and finally, the results are disclosed for better performance.
