Design of Directional Two L shaped Microstrip Patch Antenna for WSN Applications Using Sea Lion Optimization Algorithm

Arrangement of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) has a growing interest in the last few years. It also contains many sensor nodes which are mainly used in applications like healthcare systems, habitat monitoring and structural monitoring. But, the achievement of energy efficient wireless communication is considered as one of the main challenges in WSN. These challenges can be overcome by integrating sensor nodes with the antenna to achieve low energy consumption and enhance the network lifetime during transmission. For that purpose, the double L slotted microstrip patch antenna is designed for WSN applications. Because, this type of antenna structure contains the radiator which acts as a reflector or director with parasitic elements on each side. Moreover, Sea Lion Optimization (SLO) algorithm is proposed to optimize the antenna design parameters to achieve better frequency range for WSN integrated antennas. The simulations are done in the High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) tool, along with the Python platform for performance analysis and parameter optimization.
