Structural Characterization of Mn2[Fe (CN)6].xH2O Nanocrystalites Synthesized by Coprecipitation Method

Nanocrystallites of Mn2[Fe(CN)6]xH2O are synthesized by the wet chemical Coprecipitation method. The crystal structure of the prepared sample was characterized by using the XRD method and the chemical quantitative information of prepared nanoparticles was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy. Thermal treatment of prepared samples leads to manganese ferrite (MnFe2O4) with defined grain boundaries. The size of the prepared nano-crystallites was 15-25 nm. Phase decomposition and the phase evolution of the synthesized samples were studied. It was found that thermal treatment is the key to the evolution and transformation of phase (structure). The outcomes from the characterization indicate that the shape, phase, and crystal structure of the MnFe2O4 were hardly changed on further thermal treatment. Besides, the direct phase transition from Manganese Iron Cyanide Hydrate Mn2[Fe(CN)6]xH2O to MnFe2O4 occurred at 300°C (3hour). Rp, Rwp, RE, RF factors calculated through Rietveld refinement were found to be 45.4, 22.6, 25.4, and 21.0 respectively. The saturation magnetization(Ms), coercivity(Hc), and remanent magnetization(Mr) of MnFe2O4 were measured through VSM and found 59 emu/g, 150 Oe, and 46 emu/g, respectively.
