A Critical look at the data to find a normal range of values for Heart Rate Variability

There are several devices commercially available nowadays that can measure heart rate variability. Some of them are inexpensive enough to be affordable for health monitoring by a low budget health care team. From a user interface point of view, they should be examined critically if they need to be used long term. We also need to look critically on how the data were collected or where did the data come from. There are at least ten parameters related to the Heart Rate Variability. We describe how we randomly select the test subjects, how we randomly assign them to record their data in a resting posture and in a variety of non-resting postures and finally, how we analyze the data. We find that there is no normal range of values for Heart Rate Variability among a group of similar aged students of same gender not suffering from any known health ailment, whether they were at resting posture or not. This study attempts to critically analyze the data and makes a few recommendations.
