A New Deformation Monitoring System Based on FDMA and Carrier Phase Measurement

The radar system is of vital importance in the field of micro displacement measurement. As typical radar-based displacement measurement systems, the ground-based radar systems of the IBIS series from IDS Company have gained increased popularity due to their advantages such as all-weather, high accuracy, and real-time data processing. But the limited resolution and high cost restrict its application. This paper describes a high-resolution radar monitoring system that not only keeps the advantage of the IBIS series but also promisingly overcomes its existing shortcomings. The crucial technologies applied in this system are frequency division multiple access (FDMA) and carrier phase measurement. The FDMA makes the system have higher resolution, while the carrier phase measurement is the principle of calculating displacement. This paper introduces the principle of this system in detail, and the multi-point measurement ability and high resolution of the system are verified through simulation and experiments.
