Modelling of Transmission Lines Based on Power Waves and Transfer Coefficients

Transmission line model (TLM) has been widely used in various transmission systems. The traditional TLM takes voltages and currents as unknowns in modelling. In this paper, another modeling idea is proposed, which is named power wave-based transmission line modeling (PW-TLM) and takes power waves as unknowns. PW-TLM is applied to and validated on typical parallel wires. Although PW-TLM is equivalent to TLM in mathematical meaning, it may be easier to use for many cases.
